what should i set the price and deposit?

The price is completely up to you.  See what others are setting for similar items.  You can always edit and adjust the price at anytime.

The deposit should be set at an amount that makes you comfortable.  We suggest setting the deposit at somewhere between 50% to 75% of the present value.

how does the leasing process work?

Step 2:  Once both parties agree to proceed, they meet.

Step 3:  Download and complete our free blank lease agreement (link is located on the top menu bar).

Step 4:  Money is exchanged and borrower is allowed to use the item.  Once returned, the security deposit is to be returned to the borrower.

Note:  Both parties should retain a copy of the contract.

what if a borrower does not return my item?

This is a legitimate concern.  There is a small amount of risk in lending items to the general public, however this risk can be virtually eliminated by following these simple guidelines:

First, with a contract in place, both parties’ interests are legally protected.  It is important to complete the contract, retain a copy, and make sure that you verify a person’s identity by checking identification or driver’s license.

Second, set the refundable deposit amount at a reasonable level.  A refundable deposit gives an economic incentive for the borrower to return the item.  We suggest that the amount be set between 50% to 70% of the replacement cost of the item.

what if an item is returned damaged?

It is not reasonable to expect a borrower to pay for normal wear and tear on an item.  However, if the item is significantly damaged the owner should retain a portion of the security deposit, as allowed under the contract.
